The sculptural work of Denise Carletta is informed by the spiritual energy of the natural world. Found wooden objects inspire the artist with their potential, so she brings them back to her studio, cures the wood, and then uses Italian no-fire clay to coax figures into existence. Once the clay has cured, she seals the piece with resin and applies a layer of beeswax to impart a soft sheen. The final artwork captures the spirit of nature and the dynamism of the human form.
